Backpack Buddies

Conn’s Backpack Buddies program provides assistance to food-insecure families over the weekends during the school year.  Two PTA parents coordinate the program, and send kids home with healthy, shelf-stable foods in discreet, unmarked backpacks. In the past the Conn community has been incredibly generous with donations of food and/or money to keep the program going.

Please donate!   We can always use dollars for food purchasing, or food.  We have plenty of backpacks, thanks!

Suggested items:

Oatmeal * Grits * Granola/Snack Bars * Canned Fruit * Peanut Butter * Nuts * Canned Vegetables * Packaged Noodles * 100% Juice Boxes * Healthy Snacks

-No glass containers, please-

Right now, our pantry is a little bare, and Spring Break is coming up. We have a lot of corn and green beans, but not much else.

Please consider donating if you can; if you see a “buy one/get one” offer, maybe that “extra” one can come in to the Buddies. We can use gift cards from local grocery stores. We can accept donations of cash or check; please make checks out to “Conn PTA” and mark all donations with “Backpack Buddies” so they get to the right place!

Monetary donations go in the wooden PTA drop box in the staff mail room. There is a tub for food near the desk inside the front door; you can also send in donations through your student’s teacher.

Spring Food Drive EXTENDED THROUGH APRIL 26:   Please place food items in the bin behind the security desk in the front lobby.  Thanks!

Thank you so much for your support!
