Volunteer

Conn PTA is 100% volunteer run. Everything we do happens because someone like you donated their time and talent to support our CONNmUNITY!

There are endless possibilities in ways you can help as a volunteer, and the Conn PTA can match your time constraints and interests to needed tasks. If you're not sure where to start, please email our Volunteer Committee Chair, Michelle, at volunteer@connpta.org. Thank you!

1. You must be approved by WCPSS to engage with Conn students as a volunteer. The application involves passing criminal history and sexual offender registry checks. All volunteers must comply with WCPSS Board Policy 5020: Visitors to the School. Please note that the application process may take a few weeks to complete and must be renewed every school year. You will be notified by the MyVolunteer system when you have been approved. If you are unsure of your status, please email Ms. Seward at skseward@wcpss.net. Start your WCPSS application here!

Volunteer Training 2023.pdf

2. You must complete Conn's volunteer training and attest to understanding and agreeing to the school's expectations for volunteers. It takes approximately five minutes to complete online and does not need to be renewed. Please contact Ms. Chidester at gchidester@wcpss.net with training-related questions.

COnn PTA VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES 2023/2024

PTA opportunities are flexible -- volunteer around your own schedule, whether that's during the school day, after school, or weekends. You do not need to volunteer on a weekly or ongoing basis. We appreciate all our volunteers! Below are the numerous ways to get involved. Find the opportunity that best fits your schedule and interests, and contact a committee chair below! We'd love to have you!

Beautification

Our Beautification team works to keep our campus clean and beautiful.

Conn Cares

Our Conn Cares team supports student services by providing snacks for bus riders when their bus is running late, Thanksgiving food bins for families,  and clothing for the front office.

CONNival

Our CONNival team works to plan our school carnival to be held in May. Volunteers will also be needed the day of the event to setup, serve food, monitor games and activities, monitor the silent auction table, and clean up.

Communications

Help make copies, plan and schedule social media posts, newsletters, event signage and update the website.

DEI

Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion team ensures that PTA programming is equitable for all students and works with administration to create an inclusive environment.

Fundraising

Our fundraising team works to raise funds needed to support our many programs. Volunteers are needed to contact local businesses for donations, plan and create flyers for All For Conn, and plan community fundraising nights.

Hospitality

Our hospitality team provides food and snacks for staff luncheons and other school events. Volunteers will help setup, serve and clean up for these events.

Literacy

Our literacy team works with the media specialist to plan our school book fair, our Wake Up and Read book drive and supports the media center.

Mascot

We have an ongoing need for Corey Cougar to make appearances at events. Help bring Corey to life and smiles to students faces.

Merchandise

Our merchandise team helps to ensure merchandise sold online is sent home with students weekly.

PTA Room

Our PTA room tends to get a bit messy after events. Do you like to organize? We would love help keeping our room clean and organized.

Silent Auction

Our silent auction is held in May during Connival, help solicit donations from local businesses and plan teacher experience raffles.

SIP Representative

The purpose of school improvement is to improve achievement and outcomes for every student by working to eliminate the ability to predict achievement based on socioeconomic status, race, and ethnicity. The SIP parent representative works closely with staff members analyzing our school's data.

Special Events

Help at our after school events - Math Night, Literacy Night, Showcase Night, drama performances and more.

Winter Dance

Help plan our Winter Dance held in February.

Wellness

Our Wellness Committee plans our walk and bike to school days along with other wellness initiatives.

Yearbook

Our yearbook team plans and designs our school yearbook. They also attend our yearbook distribution event held at the end of the school year.
