Conn PTA is excited to bring back the Conn Cougar 5K on Saturday, March 8!! In its second year, the 2025 Conn Cougar Race Event will include a timed 1-mile youth fun run/walk as well as a USATF-Certified Conn Cougar 5K course!!
Set your New Year's wellness intentions and get moving with your Conn family! Conn's PTA also invites friends, family, and our extended community to take part in this event. Register today!
Conn Cougar Run Club: Starting February 12, we will be hosting a morning run club to prepare students for the race. Sign up HERE!
2025 conn cougar 5K
Enjoy a morning 5K or 1-mile youth run (or walk) through Conn's surrounding neighborhoods or partake in a community fitness program near the track.
When: Saturday, March 8th, 2025; event will kick-off around 8:15 am with race starting promptly at 9 am
Where: Pedestrian Bridge/Track at rear of Conn Magnet Elementary School (1220 Brookside Drive)
Cost: 5K registration is $35, 1 miler registration is $20. Registration covers costs to host the event, including a finisher medal! However, expense should not be a barrier to participating! Please use code RUN4CONN* to register at no cost! *Due to costs incurred with hosting this event, we ask that this code be used by direct Conn community (i.e. students, parents, staff, etc).*
Swag: Registered race participants will receive a race medal at the finish line.
Awards:
Age groups for the 5K race are <10, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+
Age groups for the 1 mile youth fun run are <10, and 10-19
5K -
Overall 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place male and female overall winners will receive gift cards to Fleet Feet.
1st, 2nd, and 3rd place male and female <10 and 10-19 age group winners will receive a gift card to So & So Books.
1st and 2nd place male and female in the 20+ age groups will receive gift cards from Trophy Brewing Company (1st) or Runologie (2nd).
1 Miler -
1st, 2nd, and 3rd place male and female <10 and 10-19 age group winners will receive a gift card to Andias Ice Cream (1st) or free scoop token to redeem at Andia's Ice Cream (2nd and 3rd).
The 2nd Annual Conn Cougar 5K t-shirt features design inspired by Conn Magnet Elementary School 4th grade student Lavender R!!
The 2025 event t-shirt will be heather grey cotton/poly blend, featuring design by one of our Conn students. T-shirts are available for an additional cost when registering or via the PTA givebacks store.
Pre-order sales only. Order by 11:59 pm on Sunday, February, 23rd to secure your shirt for race day! All orders placed after this time will be delivered 2-3 weeks following event conclusion.
UPDATE 2/24 - T-shirts pre-orders are now only accessible through the PTA givebacks store. Any t-shirt order placed 2/24 up through the event (3/8) will be delivered 2-3 weeks following the event.
The CONN Cougar 5K + 1-mile youth fun run event is for the entire CONNmUNITY and beyond!
Any proceeds received from the event will cover the cost of the event and then go on to support Conn's students, families and staff through Conn's PTA! PTA aims to support funding for additional bike loops, other wellness-related expenses and general operating expenses through event proceeds and donations.
Cannot attend the event, but wish to give to Conn PTA?! You may do so via our givebacks store. Donations are tax deductible and support Conn's students, families and staff through PTA.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Volunteers are a critical element in hosting a safe and sound event. Interested in supporting the event through gift of time?! Please consider signing up to cover a shift or two... help set-up, aid runners and/or breakdown! Many hands make light work!

Thursday, March 6th 4:30-5:30 pm at Conn Magnet Elementary Campus (we'll be near that path that leads to the race starting line!)
Friday, March 7th 4-5:30 pm at Conn Magnet Elementary Campus (we'll be near that path that leads to the race starting line!)
PARKING - We encouarge participants to walk or ride a bike if they can. Limited parking will be available on the right side of school property (facing the school, car rider loop; this is the school entrance immediately across from Frank Street). Event attendees can park at Tap Yard Raleigh or in the parking lot near Good Dirt as overflow.
To ensure the safety of all participants dogs and other pets are not permitted. Registered service dogs permissible.
We ask that scooters and bikes remain parked for the event. Push strollers are permitted along the race course.
The event will take place on Conn Magnet Elementary School's campus. The school will be locked and closed. Building entry will not be permitted during the event.
CONNmUNITY Day Out @ TapYard
The fun continues at Tap Yard Raleigh! Follow the crowd on over to Tap Yard for drinks and eats. Spend some time enjoying our CONNmUNITY and eating lunch while the kids run around and have fun with friends!
