Literacy
Conn PTA's Literacy Committee promotes a love of reading among Conn students by coordinating Conn's annual Scholastic Book Fair, book drives, and guest author visits throughout the school year. Send questions or comments to literacy@connpta.org.
FALL BOOK FAIR
Proceeds are donated back to Conn's media center to purchase new materials, and thanks to the generosity of our PTA donors, we are able to ensure every student is able to purchase a book.
In 2024, our fall book fair raised over $19,000 in sales and $3,500 in revenue for our media specialists!
FALL BOOK DRIVE
Donated books will be used to help Conn students build their home libraries and to stock Conn’s book vending machine!
Biggest Need: Chapter Books and books for 3-5th grade, but all books welcome!
WHo's WHO at CONN?
Ms. Tabitha Jermyn, Counselor (K, 2nd, 4th)
PTA's Literacy + Book Fair Committees work closely with Ms. Jermyn and Conn's Student Support Team to ensure ALL students -- regardless of ability -- participate in book fair and come home with their very own book.
Books donated through PTA's book drive are sorted by Ms. Jermyn, who uses books for both literacy and social/emotional learning for students.
Thanks to Ms. Jermyn, Conn's book vending machine stays full!
Ms. Cari Ann Brick, Media COORDINATOR
PTA's Literacy + Book Fair Committees work closely with Ms. Brick, Conn's school librarian, to coordinate PTA's annual book fair. Ms. Brick receives all proceeds from PTA's book fair to replenish Conn's school library with books and media resources.
Ms. Brick appreciates having volunteers reshelve books so the media center stays organized!
New! Level UP LITERACY

If you would like more information about this opportunity, please reach out to Jenny Smith at jbormannsmith@wcpss.net.
Note that this literacy program is run by the school, not PTA!
